On November 13, 2023, the contractor began tree removal in anticipation of the future work for the IL 59 and Grand Ave project. The trees can only be removed from November 1 through March 31 due to the endangered Northern Long Eared Bat habitat. The removal operation is expected to last through this week.
Installation of erosion control measures will follow to keep dirt within the site of work.
Utility relocations are ongoing during this time as ComEd moves its poles and wires to make way for the widened pavement.
