The contractor’s crew resumed work on April 1, 2025, excavating the road at the new school entrance off IL 59, south of Grand Road.
The underground crew is scheduled to return during the week of April 7, 2025, to complete the storm sewer installation at the northwest corner of IL 59 and Grand Avenue.
Traffic is planned to be switched at IL 59 and Grand Avenue next Wednesday, April 9th, weather permitting. This traffic change involves shifting traffic on IL 59 to the west, from just north of the new school entrance to north of Grand Avenue. There will be no changes on Grand Avenue. This adjustment will allow the remaining work to commence at the intersection and the reconstruction of Washington Street at IL 59. The realigned Washington Street and new school entrance will remain closed until the new signal is installed and activated.
Message boards will be in place to notify the public of the traffic switch.
